Questions from a Newbie

Just discovered this game and am totally obsessed now. Thank you for all who have put in the time to create girlpacks and make this game so fun. I do have a couple of questions as a newbie I am hoping I can get some help with

1) I was having an issue with some of the videos playing, so as was suggested in the forum, I deleted the VLC folder from my local game folder. The videos now play, but when I open the game, or the editor, I get several error messages saying the "procedure entry point "x" could not be located in the dynamic link library libvlcore.dll" After hitting ok for each error message, about 12, the game, and the videos run fine, but wondering how I get rid of this?

2) I have been playing with making my own girlpacks, but am wondering if I need to get the source files on my local system? I have tried deleting after making the pack and then the videos don't run. How do I make the pack so it doesn't require the source clip? I would need this to post it

Thanks in advance for the help!

I had the same issue. I believe I fixed it by reinstalling VLC on my system.

Just save your girlpack once and you are done. While saving a pack the source files are read from their original position and written as one continuous girlpack. You should run the clean-up function from the editor's tool menu afterwards, since your complete directory structure pointing to the source files can be seen from within the girlpack. Nobody needs to know your user name or other compromising directory names.

Whoa, that's news to me. I'd think it might be a good idea to give the user a warning if he's saving a girlpack without running the cleanup function first. We're talking porn here, and the default attitude people have towards porn is that they'd rather not shout their interests from the rooftops. Considering how easy it would be for someone to accidentally include their real life name in such a directory structure (such as by pointing to your download or video folders in Windows, which are within a folder with your username in it), helping them avoid revealing themselves online would be a nice courtesy, in my opinion.

You misunderstood, you have to run the clean-up AFTER all your work is done. If you are creating a new girlpack, there is no girlpack to clean before the first save. The fully qualified directory structure is needed to find the individual movie files on first save. If there is a girlpack and the movie files cannot be found (either they are deleted or the path information is cleaned), then the girlpack itself is used as source for saving. But maybe you want to edit the movie files some more, cut them, re-encode them, so the clean-up is recommended as the last operation before publishing the pack.

While my facts were wrong, your answer doesn't address the issue I raised: that of privacy. I've seen no mention in the application of this behavior, nothing to warn the user that he's potentially about to distribute his folder structure to other users. This is incredibly bad form. I strongly (and I can't emphasize that word enough) suggest that some kind of solution to this problem is given a high priority, whether you consider it a bug or a feature.

One possible solution is akin to what I first suggested: If, upon saving a girlpack, the editor has to dig up the videos from their source locations because there is no existing girlpack to draw them from, then give the user a warning that the girlpack now contains potentially personal folder information, and recommend that the cleanup operation is run before uploading it.

uninstalling and reinstalling did the trick. Thank you!

Also, thank you for the advice on the packs....just posted my first two attempts. Let me know what you think

This could be done in the summary dialog after saving. No additional click needed, since the dialog is already there.

That sounds like an acceptable solution to me.
